NHK, Japan's national public broadcasting organization, announced on November 19th the lineup for this year's 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, and it's filled with K-pop stars. K-pop girl groups Le Sserafim, Twice, and I'll be there, along with boy group Tomorrow X Together (TXT), are set to perform.
The Kohaku Uta Gassen, a highly prestigious annual music program in Japan, is a testament to the growing influence of K-pop in the Japanese music industry. Twice, in particular, will be making their fifth appearance, while Le Sserafim will be making their third. I'll be there and TXT, both making their debut appearances, have rapidly gained popularity in Japan since their debut.
JO1, a group formed from the Japanese version of "Produce 101" and popular in Japan, will also be performing, further solidifying K-pop's presence.
The Kohaku Uta Gassen, which has a long and storied history, is broadcast annually in Japan. Performing on this show is considered a recognition of being a top-tier artist in the Japanese music industry.
This year's lineup of K-pop artists is expected to further strengthen the exchange between the music industries of both countries.
