2008년에 창업자 Jeff Mason이 개인적인 문제를 겪어서 지난 5년동안 신간발행이 없었던 Alternative Comics 출판사가 작년에 독립음악/도서 전문 유통업체 Wow Cool에게 인수된 이후 처음으로 내놓는 Altenative Comics #4 이슈와 Karl Stevens의 Failure TPB 발매. 작년에 Ted May의 Injury #4 이슈가 Alternative Comics를 통해서 배급된적이 있지만, 그건 Ted May가 Kickstarter를 통해서 모금한 돈으로 Injury #4 이슈를 완성한 이후에 단순히 배급만 맡았던거니까 오늘 발매된 만화책들이 Alternative Comics 출판사의 진정한 부활이라고 할수있겠지. Alternative Comics #1~3 이슈는 판매용이 아니라 2003년~2005년 Free Comic Book Day에 공짜로 배포한 이슈들이었다고 하는데 그당시에는 내가 토요일에도 출근해야 하는 직장에 다니던 시절이라서 Free Comic Book Day에 만화전문점에 갈수있는 기회도 없었기때문에 뒤늦은 지금에라도 구입해서 읽어보고 싶군.

Garth Ennis의 Red Team에 이어서 Dynamite Entertainment의 범죄만화 라인업의 두번째 타이틀 Uncanny #1 이슈 발매. 인터넷 프리뷰를 보니까 주인공 캐릭터는 주변의 다른 사람들의 능력을 빌려쓸수 있는 초능력을 지녔다는 SF적 요소가 있어서 순수한 범죄만화라고 하기는 좀 그런것같군. 하지만 개인적으로 궁금한건 Uncanny라는 제목의 만화책을 계속 내놓도록 Marvel이 가만히 있을까 하는점.

The Unwritten #50 이슈는 Vertigo의 또다른 시리즈 Fables의 캐릭터들이 등장하는 5부작 스토리라인의 시작. 특별한 이슈인만큼 페이지수도 많아서 가격도 일반이슈는 $2.99지만 이번 이슈는 $4.99로 올랐고 참여한 그림작가들도 많군. 그러고보니 나는 Fables를 이슈와 TPB로 섞어서 읽다가 #69 이슈까지의 연재분을 담은 TPB 10권까지 읽고 나서 흥미가 떨어져서 TPB 11권을 사놓기만 하고 읽지도 않은지가 벌써 몇년째. (물론 Fables만 그런게 아니라 사놓고 못읽은 이슈들과 TPB는 산더미.)
