I mean, you don't have to be in bumfuck USA, just not a place like LA. LA is a bubble that's popping, it is overpopulated, the housing market is shit, and the taxation is insane. Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, for example are all large metropolitan areas, where a $50k-$60k salary is more than enough to survive, and a $50k salary is doable by almost anyone in any profession, but yes of course they would have to work some overtime if their base hourly is low. There's people who have made nearly 6-figure incomes in the past year doing food delivery, nobody else, anywhere else in the world can do that. Yes, they worked insane hours, but still.

Even modern day European countries, although they have high standards of living, are more socialist-leaning. They are not good places to thrive in. They're good if you have no ambitions and want to stay an average working-class person, sure. But if you try opening up a business pretty much anywhere in the EU, you're consistently harassed by local, national, and even foreign governments (EU) for all kinds of paperwork, documents, regulations, taxes, etc. etc. etc. Any small error in any documentation results in massive fines. Any small break of protocol or regulations results in massive fines. Meanwhile, Europe has just as many, if not more, retardedly wealthy people as the U.S. who thrive in that system through their positions of power and their willingness to be corrupt. In my country, you have to have to have a lawyer, an accountant, and tons of money just to even start your own business. Then the tax man and maybe some kind of other local "investigator" will check on you on a monthly-basis to make sure you're following the rules. And then if you end up making too much money due to having a successful business, you will be taxed to the point of your business no longer being profitable. So naturally, people find loopholes to avoid as much taxation as possible, and then you're in this endless cycle of the government trying to fuck business owners and business owners trying to fuck the government. Then you even get shit like 1920s-style organized crime families and mafias who systematically fuck the government as well as other people. It's really, really fucked. And it's sad to see left-leaning Americans preach for socialism when those fucks have no idea how that shit really works. People having access tohealthcare is one thing, preaching for full blown socialism is a totally different thing.
