Heo Yoon-seo, solo free 6th place... Korea Artistic World Championships best ever

Their previous highest ranking was 8th in the team event at Perth, Australia in 1998.

Huh Yoon-seo (17, Apgujeong High School) ranked 6th, the best ever at the World Championships, in all Korean Artistic Swimming 바카라 events.

Heo Yun-seo scored 186.6167 points in the 2023 World Aquatics Championships Artistic Swimming Solo Free Final held at Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall in Fukuoka, Japan on the 19th and placed 6th.

In the final, Heo Yun-seo acted on the theme of 'freedom' according to the OST of the Russian movie Mathilde, and scored 82.8000 points for art and 103.8167 points for execution.

Heo Yoon-seo, who came in 4th out of 29 in the preliminary round held on the 17th and stood in the final where 12 players competed, fell two places in the final, but she achieved a splendid feat of reaching 6th in the world championships, a feat no one had achieved in the history of Korean artistic swimming.

Previously, Korean Artistic Swimming's best performance at the World Championships was 8th place in the team event in Perth, Australia in 1998.

In the solo event, Lee Ri-young (22, Busan Swimming Federation) in the solo technical at the Fukuoka Games and Choi Yu-jin in the 1998 Perth Games in Australia achieved ninth place.

Huh Yoon-seo, who only competed in duets at last year's Budapest competition, also competed in a solo free match in Fukuoka this year, changing the history of Korean artistic swimming.

Since the 2007 World Championships, Artistic Swimming has divided solo events into two categories: technical and free.

Before that, only one event, a duet, was held.

The Russian athletes, who invaded Ukraine and were unable to compete in this competition, had an advantage in that the number of events increased compared to previous competitions in 2007, but the value of Heo Yun-seo's achievements that day does not diminish.

After successfully completing his world championship solo debut, Heo Yoon-seo will close the Fukuoka schedule with a gala show on the 22nd.
